Jaws aka Bad Fish | Beach (Garage) closed…
When a great white shark menaces the community of holiday retreat Amity Island, a police chief, a marine biologist and a shark hunter set out, ready to do whatever it takes to find the shark and kill it. Sounds familiar? You guessed right, we’re talking about Jaws.
The poster Bad Fish shows the scary sighting of a great white’s fin in a sea of blood. We put the sarcastic name Bad Fish in blood red letters on top of the shark’s fin.
What makes this poster and showroom image notable, even most remarkable? First of all, we used stand-ins and a lot of effects. Most importantly, we didn’t have to shoot the shark live in the basement of our building. We didn’t really transform our garage into a shark tank either and we didn’t have to flood it with tons of salt water. Neither did we have to completely seal it to make it water proof.
Therefore, the shark scene was only as frightening and as authentic as drinking a hot cup of coffee in the office. To shoot this scene for real, we would have needed a lot of stunt people and professional scuba divers to do this scary and dangerous work. But we had no budget for that. The result: the shark didn’t have to be caught and later released into open water again. (*No animals were harmed in the making of this artwork) Visit our Shop.
By the way: Never pull a real shark’s tail. It could be fatal.
A tribute to Steven Spielberg’s 1975 masterfully paced and intensely gripping movie Jaws. Simply a must have for all Jaws fans.
